Off the wall and on with the game. The Art of Ping Pong’s bats, balls and nets are guaranteed to appeal to all lovers of great design and fun times. Art of Ping Pong celebrates the popularity and subculture of ping pong by colliding it with the passion for art and the craft of design. It is run by Algy Batten and his wife Caroline. Algy is a creative consultant specialising in helping organisations develop their brand and business direction. He was previously the co-founder and creative director of the design and branding agency Fivefootsix, which closed in 2015 after 11 years of success. Caroline was previously the lead window designer for Gap Europe. She now juggles her time between Art of Ping Pong and raising their two kids Silas and Alma. “We have a long-standing passion for ping pong and a background in design. Our idea evolved from the modern need for compact living and the love of beautiful objects. Objects that have a real-life purpose to populate our living spaces. Our ArtTables feature a unique leg design that easily folds into the back of the table, where the net is also stored, so they hang as beautiful works of art when not in use.” The result is a beautiful table that hangs on your wall and gives you a great ping pong experience within seconds. Each table is hand made to order in limited numbers in their East London workshop. Fusing great design with the classic table-top game, the Art of Ping Pong mission is to become the most spirited ping pong brand on the planet. Born out of its founder Algy Batten’s long-standing love of ping pong and eye for design, its colourful ArtBats, ArtBalls and ArtNets are produced in collaboration with leading names in contemporary art and illustration. ArtBats by The Art of Ping Pong Following on from successful collaborations with Mr Porter and The Conran Shop, the AoPP’s new range includes the ‘Blossom’ bat, featuring a cheerful pop-art petal design by French illustrator Marylou Faure and the typographic ‘Ace’ bat, which has been created in collaboration with illustration studio RUDE to bring maximum positivity to your game. All bats are made from FSC-certified wood. Crafted from powder-coated steel, the ArtNets allow players to convert any table into a ping pong playground within seconds. By overlapping each of the three pieces, the net is easily adjusted to fit almost any table surface. When the game stops, you can hang your colourful ArtNet on the wall as a stylish interior piece. The ArtNets are sold with and without bats. ArtNets by The Art of Ping Pong Founder Algy Batten says, “The Art of Ping Pong celebrates the popularity and subculture of the game by colliding it with all the colour and fun of art. Ping pong gives a great workout and is proven to boost brain function, too. It’s accessible for players of all ages so Christmas time, when friends and family gather, is the perfect time to play.” Stylish and definitely more entertaining than Charades, the Art of Ping Pong’s bats, balls and nets are guaranteed to appeal to all lovers of great design and fun times. Art of Ping Pong expresses the love of the game through the creation of products, events and collaborations. This has seen them work with Nike, Selfridges, Mr Porter, The Conran Shop, Le Bon Marche, The Hoxton Hotel Group, Estrella Damm and many more.
