Part of the Superdesign Show in Superstudio Più, the “POLISH DESIGN. Tomorrow is today” exhibition presented the design faculties of Polish art schools in context of their geography, natural resources of the region and regional traditions and history, unique for each of them. The exhibition is attended by eight Polish state art schools: Academy of Fine Arts in GdańskAcademy of Fine Arts in KatowiceJan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in CracowWładysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in ŁódźPoznan University of ArtAcademy of Art in SzczecinAcademy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław.

Organized by the Academic Design Center, which holds the exhibition in co-operation with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute under the Culture.pl  brand, and with the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Milan, the exhibition is curated by Dorota Koziara, a graduate of Poznań University of Art, a Polish designer who runs her own studio in Milan.

Bringing the international audience closer to the specificity of teaching and the unique approach to contemporary design in Poland, the Polish exhibition showed the consistent presentation of the effects of student work in the individual context of each institution. The original arrangement designed by Dorota Koziara Studio is based on the idea of open books that tell the story – by elaborate, modern multimedia presentations – of each university individually.

In the past, each Polish art school had its own specific character. Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, an important textile center, was famous for its fabric and clothing design, Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw specialized in glass and ceramics, and Poznan University mainly in furniture design. Today the differences between universities are blurred, but at the same time each academy retains its unique character as showed by the exhibition.
