Talking Furniture, the first app in Italy created by LAGO that allows to connect the furniture to its smartphone, received the Smau Innovation Award for Talking Furniture during SMAU Milano 2017. The project, created in 2015, is the result of LAGO’s research on the Internet of Things and aims to create a direct interaction between furniture and people, enhancing and improving the consumer experience. A mobile chip is applied to each mobile device, which, by approaching its smartphone, automatically connects to the LAGO DESIGN application and receives instant information about the product. With the app you can also record photos, audio and video, which create an emotional narration saved in the memory of the furniture. Talking Furniture, entirely designed and operated by LAGO, is a true experience born to be able to best live all the furniture products. The project changes the paradigms of man-produced relationships in the most diverse contexts, ranging from domestic to the public. This feature arises from LAGO’s conviction that the true design revolution is not so much the object as it is the life that is happening around it. “We wanted to create an info-commerce project to enrich our furnishings and make them smarter and close to today’s consumer needs,” says Daniele Lago, AD and Head of Design at LAGO SpA. “With the intention of putting the person in the middle, we committed ourselves to create an app that was communicating with our users and providing, even offline, a wealth of useful information about our products. Talking Furniture is set as a declinable cross-project in contexts such as shops and public places, giving rise to a wide range of possibilities and imaginations. It is a new experience born to be able to enjoy the best of all furnishing products.”
