Since the year 2000 the German company Nimbus placed as fundamental point of its attention the LED technology, small and very efficient light source, which spread only a minimal amount of heat, where Nimbus has seen the potential to stimulate a radical change in the production of lamps and lighting. In fact, while others were planning dwellings more or less creative around the source of light, it is light that Nimbus focuses on, exploiting the potential of the LED to the bone and creating objects whose design is minimalist, with a clear formal language functional to the technology that resides in it, up to date, in which 98% of the turnover of the company is given by the LED division. What differentiates Nimbus compared to other companies of light design is just the combination of purist design and technological sophistication. An example is the Roxxane lamp, which have a new mechanism of motion in joints consisting of friction such as those for laptops, and an innovative mini-architecture to circulate the cooling airflow. Also present important collaborations in which experimentation and research are also extended to the aesthetic aspect, such as Squeeze, brightly colored and with a strong physical presence, designed by the famous Karim Rashid. In perfect line with the choice to work with LED, Nimbus makes the environmental awareness one of its core values : all activities are carried out on site, the vehicles run on electricity and 90% of the suppliers of Nimbus is in a radius of 200 km.
