The future of living is once again represented at best by the Italian product: not just the merging of traditions that the world envies us, but also able to establish new trends in style and innovation. Homi, in its January edition, has just ended with a turnout of 80,000 professionals of the field, of which 15% foreigners.

The protagonist of this edition was color, which after a long dominance of minimalism and total white returned to characterize objects and environments, with furnishings that blend with the surrounding space. In contrast, thanks to the new technologies, a more immaterial style, with many transparency accentuated by the colors of led lights. Technology also in the kitchen, which the exhibitors of Homi presented as healthy and sustainable: an environment not only functional for the preparation of meals, but the heart of the house where to experiment with the more sophisticated and refined objects. Just the latter brought many visitors to the Negozio Incontro area, thanks to workshops and chef Maurizio and Andrea’s cooking shows.

The design of Homi, once again, is also expressed through the sense of smell, in the Fragrances area where the more appreciate were the fragrances associated with sleep and relaxation that use Talc powder and evoke the white sheets. Further positive confirmation came from experimental laboratory “La Magnifica Forma 3.0” that Homi has devoted to the comparison between the design and artistic heritage: 5 living spaces related to 5 regions of Italy were presented, introducing a contemporary dimension, with a dialogue with the landscape and artistic peculiarities of the Italian territory.

Not only telling the presents, but also to forge the future, in this edition of Homi has promoted training workshops like the one organized by Galtus to teach young people the techniques of craftsmanship of precious metals, or the SmartUp, which has explored the prospects of digital prototyping, reverse engineering and 3D printing.

The next step, after Moscow in October, will bring the fair in the United States: Homi next appointment is in New York, from 16 to 19 of May (simultaneously with ICFF-International Contemporary Furniture Fair) and then return to Italy in September, in full Expo 2015.
