Dovetusai, the place where design means beauty and function, re-opens in mid-March in the centre of Milan, in Via Rossini 3. Originally founded in 1992 by Fabio Cocchi and Luigi Rotta who ran the company until 2007, Dovetusai is a creative workshop as well as a showcase. “In 2002, when we published – Fabio Cocchi and Luigi Rotta say – along with photographer Ruy Teixeira our book ‘Dovetusai – passage through design’, Maddalena De Padova wrote for us: “Design is my life”. After all those years we do have the same feeling ourselves. We spent most of our lives researching, admiring, discovering and creating beautiful objects to use and decorate our everyday life. We’ve been travelling physically and mentally to search beauty and poetry. Spontaneous design of historical cultures as well as new technologies, craftsmanship skills or new materials, they all appealed to us, fascinated us. We are back to that, back to the roots”. They are back with a new collection presented in Paris at the last Maison&Objet fair, but their own collection sold all over the world to some of the most prestigious design and museum stores. In the past, Fabio Cocchi and Luigi Rotta launched young designers and worked with famous ones and brands such as Droog Design, The Noguchi Foundation, Gaetano Pesce and John Pawson to name a few.
