We start from the young Italian designer Massimo Faion, presenting a project which combines tradition and design. To get directly into the event considered the Middle East leading one, the Design Days Dubai. The name of Faion’s project is ‘Posa’ (First picture on the right) and it speaks about falconry, recognized since 2010 by UNESCO as oral and intangible heritage of humanity. The final result is the creation of objects characterized by contemporary lines. A stylistic bridge (sometimes turning into art) that takes us to the heart that event, taking place in March 16 to 20, involving design lovers of the area for the fourth time. An event that stimulates a brief reflection on the development of the luxury sector, which in recent years is creating a new sensibility, privileging quality, expertise and authenticity, rather than the pure ostentation. A new awareness and maturity is growing up. Among all the projects, between graphic, industrial and furniture design, we have selected three. Baraboux, Letters to Wear. Artists and type designers of all accomplishments have been given the unique opportunity to design a set of Arabic letters that will be crafted into bag charms for one auspicious winner through a paid product design commission, and judged by a consummate line-up of well-known Arabic typography specialists including calligraphist wunderkind eL Seed, jewelry designer and artist Nadine Kanso and designer Rana Salam, as well as Reema Bandar Al Saud and the director of Khatt, Huda Smitshuijzen Abi Fares. Haft Sin Collection. One of the rituals performed during Nowruz (New Year celebration of spring) is the setting of a Sofraye Haft Sin – a table or dining cloth, prepared with seven or more items starting with the letter S. Designer Hozan Zangana will present his version of a modern Haft Sin, inspired by Nastaleeq calligraphy. Together with ceramist Suzan Becking, a live demonstration will show the process of making this porcelain collection. Also, a video will show the reason for recreating this ancient tradition. Carwan Gallery. Posa Project by designer Massimo Faion will make its world debut at Design Days Dubai presented by Carwan Gallery. The installation will consist of four collectible falcon perches with a live falcon performance. Massimo Faion, was born in Treviso, Italy and now lives and works in Milan. Massimo collaborates with various design studios in Milan planning temporary spaces and scenography for events. A few years ago, the designer decided to focus on his own production of objects and interiors. All of the projects have a strong focus on collaboration and know-how of Italian artisans and are reinterpretations of traditional techniques brought in a contemporary context for the realization of high quality objects.
