The chair Simply – presented for the first time at the SaloneSatellite, the area of young designers at the Salone del Mobile in Milano in 2017 – is one of the 12 projects selected for the New Designers Awards Neo2 by Sancal. “What we wanted was to generate a sophisticated chair design using elements and simple shapes in an intelligent and attractive way” said Pedro Boj Pérez and Javier Gutiérrez Asensio alias Achodoso, the design studio based in Murcia, Spain. The Simply chair is formed by a structure of beech wood on which the seat and the backrest, two independent pieces of metal sheet that simulate being one, allowing to create different combinations of colour. With the simple gesture of removing the backrest, the chair becomes a low stool. The pieces of union have left them in view as part of the aesthetics of the object. For its production by DAE company in Barcelona, they use simple manufacturing processes and economic materials, in order to facilitate the work of the company and to make a more competitive product in the market. Achodoso is a product design studio specialized in furniture design and founded in 2015. It is made up of two designers, Pedro Boj Pérez and Javier Gutiérrez Asensio, with opposite profiles who have known how to take advantage of their differences. In their designs, they reflect a style marked by the simplicity of the elements and the originality of the details with this they pretend that something apparently insignificant produces an unexpected pleasure for the people who use it. “Design – they stated – starts with a good idea, but we believe it is something else: it is the element that gives soul to objects, is what makes us fall in love with them.”
