In a world premiere in Milan for the Salone del Mobile, the Japanese company Aisin (Toyota Group) with designers Stesu & Shinobu Ito, presented an exhibition dedicated to interactive furniture projects on the topic of sleep: AISIN_ne.mu. ri (the Japanese for “sleep”). The study behind the exhibition is dedicated to interactive technology based on sensors that respond to body movements, Aisin’s election field, being the company specialized in precision engineering and Information Technology, with products featured in car manufacturers around the world. This project is beyond the car, however, and it moved in all environments inhabited by man, imagining the application in interactive design. AISIN_ne.mu.ri, the first of three stages, in particular investigates the world of sleep: the cube C of the Triennale di Milano is transformed into a Zen Garden, made with sound and video suggestions from which emerge archipelagoes of sofas and a bed. These are furnitures with sensors positioned at strategic points to react immediately on the movements, which the public can test by interacting with the scenography and lights of the space simply by standing up or sitting down, or moving the weight of the body.
