Intarsio Capsule Collection designed by Valerio Cometti for Budri Eyewear is an homage to architecture and to art and evokes three eras of great artistic prestige: Baroque, Neoclassicism and Renaissance. Following its 2016 debut in the world of eyewear with the launch of 30 original new frames crafted in marble, Budri, thanks to state-of-the-art technology, unique know-how in the field of marble processing, and superb artisanal craftsmanship, amazes once again with new proposals that masterfully combine the beauty and exquisite quality of the finest marbles, with design and fashion. Featuring 9 new designs, with a new language created by richly significant patterns, the collection brings artistic inlay to the world of eyewear for the first time. The three shapes, dedicated to Bernini, Canova and Donatello, drawing on the harmony of architectural splendour, present inlays inspired by the opulent floors of eras that inspire them. Bernini “Ingenuus” and “Mirium”, new interpretations of the Bernini women’s model, are made of Nero Portoro and Bianco Carrara marble. The contrasting inlaid geometries on the front and temples are inspired by the opulent floors of the Baroque era. The juxtaposition of refined colours and intricate joints that create unprecedented stylistic complexity, enhance the lines of “Parva”, a frame crafted in Nero Sahara, Bianco Carrara and Giallo Siena, for women in search of a unique accessory with a strong personality. Canova Three new proposals for women are inspired by the Canova model: “Aequilibrium” made of Bianco Carrara, Grigio Carnico and Rosa Alba marble, which features amazingly complex workmanship with diagonal lines that are echoed on the temples; the elegant “Ratio” in Grigio Carnico and Super White marble, and the sophisticated “Suavitas” in Bianco Carrara and Rouge Du Roi, a deep red marble particularly loved by Napoleon. An emblem of Neoclassicism, these astonishing models echo the rational forms and stylistic sobriety of the era. Donatello Harmonic proportions, intricate orthogonal joints, and the use of elementary geometric forms characterize the Renaissance, an architectural era that flourished from the beginning of the XV in Europe, and Italy in particular. “Concordia”, inspired by the Donatello model, in Rosso Levanto, Verde Alpi and Bianco Carrara, pays tribute to Italy and the beauty of the country’s prestigious marbles. For those who like to exude discreet elegance, there is “Essentia” in Grigio Carnico and Cremo Impero. And finally, Donatello, “Mens” in Verde Alpi and Bianco Carrara, characterized by the insertion of pavé zirconia. It takes forty separate stages to produce these highly complex frames, with production striking a fine balance between artisanal know-how and manufacturing technology. All the proposals in the Intarsio collection are designed to mount optical as well as sunglass lenses. Thus, once again Budri talks about architecture, about extraordinary surfaces which have coexisted alongside man for hundreds of years, becoming worn over time yet growing in value and beauty with every passing day.
