Concéntrico 08, which will be held in Logroño from 1 to 6 September 2022, has renewed the calls for entries with a new digital delivery format and €7,500 in prizes.

Concéntrico, the design and architecture festival held in Logroño -in the Spanish region of La Rioja- which celebrates its eighth edition from 1 to 6 September 2022, has opened three calls for entries, with a deadline for submission of entries on 11 March 2022 at 14:00 (GMT+1).

The festival will increase the prize money to 7500€ and maintain the digital format for submission on the Concéntrico website.

The open calls for the design of three of the interventions of the eighth edition of Concéntrico have reached their halfway point. There are few days left, until 11 March 2022 at 14:00 (GMT+1), to send the project of the pavilion or the installations in the proposed locations:

  • Plaza de Escuelas Trevijano
  • Viña Lanciano (ES) + Quinta do Seixo (PT)
  • Calla Obispo Bustamante


The festival will be responsible for the production and construction of the winning proposals in coordination with the selected teams, and they will form part of the set of installations that will take place in different locations in the city.

Concéntrico stands out among the best cultural proposals in Spain by placing for the first time in the national ranking of The Best of Culture 2021 of the Observatory of Culture organised by the Fundación Contemporánea.

The installation Types of Spaces, carried out at Concéntrico by Hanghar and Palma studios, has won the Building of the Year Award, an annual prize organised by Archdaily. With more than 100,000 votes cast over the past three weeks, the 15 winners of the Building of the Year 2022 Awards have been presented.


The project, recognised in the small scale – installations modality, transformed the chimney passage of the old tobacco factory of Logroño, returned the place to its condition of built space by consolidating the façades and giving the tobacco factory as a whole its original unity.

“As in previous years, the winners showcase a wide spectrum of different types of building, giving an insight into how diverse the profession has become in recent decades. High-profile practices take their place as ever, with winners such as MVRDV’s Housing project in Bordeaux and Kengo Kuma’s Casa Batllo’s installation, showing that established firms are still able to make their mark, as in more traditional award systems. Alongside these are previously unsung heroes, such as PALMA and HANGHAR with their project, Types of Spaces. Among the winners, we also find Ca’n Terra House by ENSAMBLE STUDIO and Plaza of Kanagawa Institute of Technology by Junya Ishigami + Associates, extremely creative projects that today challenge their typologies.”

The festival is organised by the Cultural Foundation of the Architects of La Rioja together with Javier Peña Ibáñez, promoter of the initiative, in collaboration with the City Council of Logroño and the Government of La Rioja. It is supported by Garnica, Bodegas LAN, Sogrape and more than 30 local, regional, national and international institutions, entities and companies.
