The aluminium coffeemaker Ossidiana designed by Mario Trimarchi for Alessi in 2014 is born from the intersection between design and sculpture. From design, Ossidiana takes the aesthetic codes of the everyday and familiar object; from the sculpture the design process by subtraction of the material. The shapes perfectly hold the gesture of the hands, proposing state-of-the-art ergonomic dignity. “Ossidiana resembles prehistoric flints, the ancestral design action that transforms simple stones into perfect tools through the splintering” stated Mario Trimarchi.
