DCW Éditions, inspired from his visceral love for honest, reliable and well- designed objects, decided to share and present to a wider audience three products of excellent design that it is particularly fond of: the Lampe Gras, the Lampe Mantis and the Chaise Surpil .Lampe Gras was designed in 1921 by Bernard- Albin Gras, and outlined an excellent project being unusually simple and robust, with no screws or joints in the basic form. After that in 1927 the Ravel company bought the patent and started the production of the lamp, which has become an icon of the twentieth century, and is today requested as a collection object. Strongly supported by Le Corbusier, Gras expanded the concept by creating different versions of the lamp, as the models 206 and 207, table lamps with a strong base of oak or tek designed for use in laboratories. From the year 1951 is the project of Lampe Mantis, by Bernard Schottlander, who created a series of illuminations expression of the intrinsic movement present in all his works. The shape is unique, reminiscent of an acrobat suspended in mid-air, creating a helical movement in a constant balancing act that seems to defy the laws of gravity. The chair Surpil is the result of the attention that in 1927 the French inventor Julian-Henri Porché dedicated to the design of metal furniture for use in public areas. The result was this elegant and light chair, made through the use of two pipes that go to make up the seat and the back: a stackable product, hygienic and fully functional. Three objects that have marked the projects of the last century and that, ahead of their times, have changed the habits of use and inspired the greatest architects of 900.
