Curiosity is the virtue that guides the design process of Arturo Álvarez, creative director, product manager, main designer, soul of the company and one of its founders. The company founded 20 years ago near Santiago de Compostela, in the northwest of Spain, designs and manufactures decorative lighting. It works imagining and shaping special lamps with a strong emotional component. Human well-being through the hedonistic enjoyment of the object, is the concept that lies behind Arturo Alvarez’s work and every lamp is unique, since all of them are handmade with an exquisite care to finishes and techniques often inspired in the traditional arts&crafts of the area. The natural environment where the factory is based is a constant source of inspiration that is reflected in the forms, textures and materials. On the other hand the artistic value of its designs has been recognized by its participation in many exhibitions in art galleries and museums all over the world. The commitment on the development of new materials, of extreme importance for the company, brought Arturo Alvarez, few years ago, to invest in innovation, exploring and creating proprietary materials for his lighting designs. It has developed SIMETECH®, a material of silicone mesh characterized by its visual beauty and luminosity. From its experimentation, is born the BALLET collection: its shapes are formed by the superposition or gathering of its vertexes, allowing freedom for the own flexibility of the material. The resulting volumes are fluid and natural due to the tension of the SIMETECH®. Its asymmetry makes its forms change depending on the point of view in a constant dance of light and shadows. ONN is the new collection of pendant and ceiling lamps made out of painted stainless steel mesh. They evoke the sea world: shells, seaweed, and corals emerge with great force, full of dynamism and vitality. Ideal for walls and ceilings, they allow for interesting compositions through their unusual shapes. PILI is a single painted stainless steel thread is interwoven, creating random volumes and a harmonious wrapping irregularity, full of charm and mystery, through which the whimsical light escapes. It is available in two sizes, which allows for visually stunning compositions when several units are combined. The URA collection – made of painted stainless steel mesh – is handcrafted through delicate folds that originate recognizable shapes from nature. The lamps can be combined freely, and together they create a harmonious game of volumes that shrink and expand, while individually they convey a subtle lightness.
