Curl is the result of a meet between the designer Fred Rieffel and Robert Acouri, President of the Group Cider. The armchair is part of the VIA 2019 Incubator, which supports the development of the project. Curl hides nothing, its metal structure that wraps backrest and armrests also leaves to appear the seat. The backrest is simply based on the metal base. «I like to bring new functions, investigate the new way of using objects, create sustainable objects, whereas we’re in the time of disposable things and acceleration,» says Fred Rieffel. «My work isn’t spectacular but rather in the order of homeopathy.» fredrieffel opened his own design studio based in Strasbourg at the beginning of 1998. Since this time, he has developed furniture for numerous French and international companies like ArfA, Ligne Roset, Rodet, RocheBobois, Sif in France, habitat in London and Pianca in Italia. During his career, he won some international design awards like «Young&Design», in Milan, Good design in Chicago, the VIA labels in France, Reddot award in Germany. Some of his work take part into the french Contemporary National Fund of Art in Paris and the Chicago Athenaeum museum of architecture and design.
