During Venice Glass Week, the city’s first international festival dedicated to the art of glass, from 10th to 17th of September 2017, Emmanuel Babled and Venini present a joint exhibition on the project Pyros. The exhibition, that will be opened on 9th of September 2017, at Spazio Venini in Venice, San Marco 314 – Piazzetta Leoncini, will present to the public a selection of glass works together with a video of production process by Marco Sweering, all curated in a related scenario. Pyros is a series of Murano glass objects, designed by Emmanuel Babled and produced by Venini in Murano, Italy. The series expresses a perfect symbiosis between the know-how of the master craftsmen of Venini and the creativity of the designer. Pyros Special Edition 2017 is a unique edition of three special series created for this particular exhibition, where the designer played with different elements – Silver leaves, Pulegoso Glass and Opaque Coral. Three different techniques with focus on Murano glass, inspired by the glass work of architect Carlo Scarpa (1906 –1978), inventor and initiator of iconic works of Venini’s production: Argenti: use of silver foil application Pulegosi: use of glass with irregular air bubbles Coralli: use of opaque colors such as Rosso Antico, also known as Corallo Each Pyros is a unique artwork that symbolizes a unique day at Venini. Each piece, made by handinside the furnace, numbered and dated on the same day of its production, is unique and unrepeatable, born on a special day, full of colour and contemporary inspiration to the great masters.Working in the furnace often means to seize the moment, it takes an instant to crystalize materials and colours eternally. That is what happens during Emmanuel Babled ́s direction, when Masters create the Pyros artworks. Surfaces become memories that recall colours. Colour is thrown on glass as a meteorite, following the artist intuition and recalling the movements of Action Painting. Fast gestures, teamwork and the overlapping of unique colours, carefully selected from the Venini palette, are the main features of this amazing artwork that embodies light and emotions.
