Marie Macon and Anne-Laure Lesquoy created their brand nine years ago as a space of freedom. A place where their imagination, desires and choices could take shape and their ideas expressed without limits. As an extension of their philosophy, MACON&LESQUOY have opened in Paris (37 Rue Yves Toudic, between Place de la Republique and Canal Saint Martin) a meeting point for customers, producers, craftsmen and other diverse creators. A space where expression without constraints– drawing, painting, singing… even discussion, poetization and “politicization” expressed with humour and lightness– is welcome and encouraged. Installed in an old forge transformed into a locksmith’s workshop and then closed for 30 years, the boutique-atelier is located in the oldest building in the area. Marie and Anne-Laure wanted their store to keep a patina in memory of the local history. The dark walls, the colored floors and the façade are the bridge between past and present. An ingenious system of butterfly boxes– specially designed by Julien Crespel of Tigre Paper– animates an entire wall. Their original shapes constitute a giant tangram. A central island, made up of old tables and handicrafts, is the space dedicated to customizing wallets, card holders and small canvas bags to create unique and original gifts. It is also where original exclusive pieces are presented for sale. Here you can find MACON&LESQUOY creations, current collections, classic models and those created in collaboration with others: brands such as Mont Saint Michel, institutions such as the Rodin Museum, Comédie Française, special producers such as Ibaba Rwanda, “capsule collections” with singers, musicians, actors like Romain Duris, Juliette Greco and Do … The Mur des Revendications is a wall where creators are invited throughout the year to expose their ideas in accordance with Marie and Anne-Laure, based on the collections presented. Matthieu Lemarié opens the show with Les Chevreaux Suprématistes, a poster painted from a photo of the “Mokba Folk” look-book autumn/winter 2017-18.
