Mathery is an Italian pluri-awarded artist duo: Erika Zorzi and Matteo Sangalli help agencies and producers to bring ideas to life through Photography, Film Direction, Installation and Set Design. After have lived and worked in Italy, Australia, China, they are currently based in NY. Proving to further solidify the cohesion of their ideas, method and practice, their adventures have facilitated the adaptability of thought and quickness to action. Their nontraditional approach to aesthetic always tells a story, allowing space for beauty and emotion to underpin their craftsmanship. Through experience Mathery explore and celebrate, challenge and innovate. Both clients and ideas are carefully considered as imaginings are brought to life. They provide full art direction and design services to businesses both large and small, pairing a unique aesthetic with care and thought. Mathery’s concepts often display hints of an eccentric and romantic ideal, but commitment to process and functionality is evident. An idea of Food Design is Fruit Wares, a peeled homewares collection designed by Mathery and handmade in Melbourne, that has been acquired by the National Gallery of Victoria and it is now part of the permanent design collection. Orange Jar, Avocado Vase, Banana Bowl, Rock Melon Coasters and Pineapple Punch Bowl. The collection transforms the fruit peel’s short term function as a natural container into a long-life one. The vessels explore and reintroduce the natural textures of the fruit, every object is a unique resin reproduction of a model realised from fruit peels. Fruit was carefully selected among dozens of fruit markets and minutely cut into geometric shapes then reassembled as objects.
