During the days of Fuorisalone the historical neighbourhood of Brera opens the doors of its shops, showrooms and temporary spaces of suggestive beauty to citizens and tourists who discover a hidden corner in a Milan out of time. Is the Brera Design District, which puts Brera as a point of reference for design in Milan, at its fifth edition in 2014, with more than 70 member companies and a full calendar of activities open to the public. In continuity with the previous edition this year Brera Design District presents “Lezioni di Design”: a reflection that has for goal the promotion of the culture of the project, to create a connection between modernity and innovation, taking up the study of design itself, and therefore a path with many initiatives related to knowledge and learning. Theme of reflection is “Be District: creare connessioni, comunicare innovazione”, analyzing how it is always shorter the time gap between the creation of new products, how is reducing the adding value to existing ones, and therefore how we have to create generative systems, the only ones with the inexhaustible capacity to connect people and enable them to create new values and new products. On this trail, a novelty of the 2014 Edition is the establishment of the Lezioni di Design award, a symbolic recognition for those who stands out in the international field thanks to an excellent case history in generating innovation and high value content; this year will be awarded Ambra Medda, co-founder of Design Miami – with which revolutionized the art fair format – and co-founder and Creative Director of L’Arcobaleno, magazine and online shop dedicated to design, a creative space that collects designers, gallerists, curators and artists.
