Walking, or rather, drifting off the frenetic streams that run through the city of Hong Kong cannot help but observe, at every street corner, an obsessive and never-ending movement. Is the dynamism of a change, a transformation that is anything but linear. An island, never actually isolated, living in constant balance between global and local, between jungle and technology, which are intertwined with his political and cultural tradition. A change that stimulates design, and by which design is stimulated. Nille Juul-Sørensen, famous architect, inspired by the non-stop transformation, imagined an exhibition organized by Hong Kong Design Centre with Create Hong Kong in the role of official sponsor. Hong Kong: Constant Change will exhibit the works and projects of more than 60 designers, famous and emerging in Hong Kong, for the international audience during Salone del Mobile 2014, in the space of Salone d’onore at Triennale di Milano. Various creative disciplines will be mixed: from architecture to fashion, from the street to education, from communication to household products, with a reflection on local realities and environmental issues often in contrast with the futuristic world that characterizes the Asian metropolis. In this context the designer stands as a problem solver, able to respond quickly to rapid changes by providing the right solutions, or by creating new ways of thinking and living within the city.
