The International Biennial for creative interior design in Belgium has elected, like every year, the « Designer of the Year ». The lucky one is for this occasion the talented Marina Bautier. Born and raised in Belgium, Marina completed her studies in UK, obtaining a First Class Honours at Bucks New University in High Wycombe. Immediately after her studies, Marina decided she didn’t want to work for an employer and started to work as a freelance so that she could express all her creativity. What really launched her in this difficult world was the SaloneSatellite at Milan Designweek in 2007. It was her third year there, and thanks to her collaboration with “Ligne Roset”, she was propelled to the international level. This was only the beginning of a large range of collaborations with famous brands such as “Swedese”, “Case”, “Stattmann Neue Moebel” and “Idée”. In 2013 Marina launched her own brand “MA”, source or her growing ambition. Determined to follow her products at 360 degrees, she decided to follow also the production and commercialization of her designs. In fact, her collection is only available in her own shop in Brussels, at 314 Chaussée de Forest. Being elected “Designer of the year” is a great promotion in the furniture and design sector, but after having the possibility to interview Marina on Interieur I noticed one sure thing about her: she will always follow her ideas, no matter what, and will continue to design for other brands only if they share the same values as her. I personally hope people will do the same as her.
