SHORTLY 1645 sunglasses model designed by Thierry Lasry is the winner of the 25th SILMO d’Or award – Première Classe Priz, awarded during the optical fair SILMO in Paris the last end of September. “SHORTLY” is a classic from the brand, which shows a new aesthetic this season with different colour shades. The construction of this style is inspired by the Legos assembling different blocks of acetate between the front and the back side as well as around the inside rim. The metal temples delicately close on the extra piece of acetate layered in the back. The angles are extremely sharp in order to respect the Lego inspiration that with Playmobil and Japanese cartoons inspired Thierry Lasry. As a product of the 80s culture, he was fascinated too by the esthetic of the exuberant and inspirational fashion shows of Claude Montana or Thierry Mugler which did electrify the fashion scene of those days.Thierry Lasry is a French designer born in Paris in 1977 who defines himself as « Parisian-New Yorker », as he lives between two cities, and continues to move the boundaries of eyewear. He launched his signature brand of sunglasses late 2006. Since then, the brand has conquered all of the most coveted stars, from Rihanna to Nicole Kidman or Kate Moss. Notable collaborations with fashion houses like FENDI and ACNE STUDIOS brought new levels of awareness to the brand. He has major shops distribution all around the world: Harvey Nichols, Le Bon Marché, Bergdorf Goodman, etc… He has proven throughout his whole career that he will not impose any limit in his creation, with sunglasses that will break rules, like those with oversized extremes made especially for Lady Gaga. After many important collaborations, Thierry Lasry is launching this year his first optical collection alongside a fresh collaboration with French Ready-to-Wear brand Koché.
